Pete's birthday

Today is Peter's 39th birthday! We celebrated after lunch with chocolate fondue.
The kids absolutely love a party... thus the need for a candle!
The fondue was definitely a hit- particularly with the small, greedy one.
Look at the pics and see for yourself.

Tomorrow we have day of relaxation in Seoul. We have taken a personal day to relax before conquering the last 2 weeks of the year.

Happy birthday Peter!

Painting Hansup apartments

Ever wondered how they paint 17 story buildings?
Well wonder no more.
Safety standards here are quite different.
A rope, a wooden seat and no fear of heights are all you need to abseil down the building to paint. They have giant spray guns and push themselves along the window railings to swing along each section.
These guys worked to complete our building in 2 days. Pretty amazing.
This is the view out of our kitchen window.

EE retreat...escape to the mountains

Friday afternoon we joined 37 high school students to begin preparing for their extended essays- which are massive and need plenty of preparation.
The idea of the retreat was to start some work but also build a sense of team spirit among the students- thus where Pete and I come in.
The venue was a Methodist retreat and church centre- well set up with conference facilities and cabins. It was very comfortable...even for sleeping Korean style.
We returned yesterday after a day/night escape from Daejeon.
While it was a hectic week and hard to plan to get away, we are really grateful we made the effort to do so.
The kids had a great time enjoying nature with their friends!
We are all tired, but happy to have seen another small part of this amazing country of contrasts.
