May in Korea

Here are some pictures taken in May. Some of the kids at school and a lot on a trip we took with friends who are leaving to Taechon Beach. About one and a half hours away West of us. It is a really nice area and the school has a cabin there in a lovely wooded spot on the headland.

Molly's Gymnastics

This year, in what shall be now known as MAY MADNESS, I took on organizing and teaching the ES gymnastics club.
This involved teaching 30 students from Kindergarten through 5th grade gymnastics on Wednesdays and Fridays.

At the end of our learning, we put on a performance for the parents. Choreographing these routines was one of the hardest things I have ever done :)
Here is Molly performing her part in the gymnastics routine.

The Birthday boy

Today is Peter's birthday- turning 34 of course.

It is a busy day for all of us, with Jack's talent show, Molly's gymnastics performance and then Peter speaking at the Baccalaureate service for the seniors and families tonight.
We did manage to find time for presents this morning though.
Jack and Molly made a lovely card, Jack made a poem for Pete and Molly bought a candle.
Cake???? Maybe tomorrow.

Jack's talent show

Today, Jack performed with his friend and some may say twin, Ethan. They did one of their Taekwondo movements to the theme from Star Wars.
Watch the video and you will see that they really do look like they could be brothers.

Jack's Taekwondo

Jack has progressed to his purple belt in Taekwondo.
This year his teacher has pushed him to achieve and has tested the students regularly.
At our recent International Festival day, the Taekwondo students presented a "dance" for everyone.
me thinks he needs a larger uniform for next year....

As Jack has one of the highest belts, he got to break a board with his foot. Cool Huh.
You can see the board is broken in half and Jack is staring it down.

Jack's buddy Ethan, they could indeed be brothers.

The whole "dance" group
The great thing about this club is it is run by HS students. One of the Grade 11's is accredited in Korea with his Taekwondo instructors license- meaning he can test the students legitimately for their belts.
That's what I love about our school- the mentoring that the older students pour out onto the younger students.

Talent show- Molly

Both Molly and Jack have both signed up to perform in the ES talent show. Molly's was today and Jack's is next week.
Molly played 2 songs on the piano... I'm sure you can work out what they are from the video.

Molly won the Student of the Month for April and on the same day she presented a play in Chapel.
Below is a slideshow with some pictures and video.
I'm not sure of the quality of sound, so turn up the volume for the video's. Click on the images below to go to Picassa where you can view the pictures and video's properly.
Enjoy!

April

April is over...wow with only a month to go before we head off to the US for our dream trip.
I have included a slideshow of what we have been doing in April- Easter fun, Molly swimming, parties with friends, spring weather...

Walking to school in spring...

Here we are, the best time of the year, walking to school and enjoying the warmth.

You can see that we walk through a few habitats on our way to work- it's pretty cool considering it is only a 5-10 minute walk.
