Day 1 looked something like this:
On the first day of school, we had the whole school from Pre K to Grade 12 come together for a welcoming assembly and a time of praise and worship to start the school year.
Molly was part of the elementary praise team to lead worship on this day. She is right in the middle with the long legs that seem to go on forever!
On Friday Molly was named "Student of the Month" for August for her Grade 3 class.
Peter was able to make it to the assembly to see her receive her award.
She has made such a great start to the year despite having the disappointment of her best friend leaving at the last minute. She has showed courage to get over that, make some new friends and get on with the business of learning and working with her new teacher.
Jack has been busily getting involved in school activities as a Middle Schooler.
He has joined the band and has to audition with his trumpet to see if he makes it in. He has a new trumpet which we bought after being continually frustrated with the hire trumpet that spent most of it's life at the fix it shop. So now as a 6th Grader he has a laptop and trumpet to care for...Yikes!
He is also playing Touch Rugby and is travelling to Suwon near Seoul for a tournament on Saturday.
The little blighter is pretty quick and agile now and is scoring tries often in his games.
Molly is also playing her first games and after an unsure start has decided that she really does like to "run fast" with the ball. (Have you seen the length of those legs).
Jack is finding the new pace of Middle school challenging, though he is really working hard to be organised, get to class on time and to get his homework done. He is enjoying some of the new freedoms associated with secondary school too. I am teaching him PE this year and he really is a caring student in the classroom who tries to help others to be better. We could not be more proud of the start he has made.
Fortunately we still have plenty of time for good kid fun in our house!
