Soup for the homeless

At the end of last year our Middle School ran a service week where we reach out to different groups in the community. My idea was to make loads of soup and feed some of the 'invisible' homeless people here in Daejeon. Many of these people hang out at the train station. You may not see many at first... but when the food comes out, so do they. We ended up serving about 200 people over 2 days with our soup.
Some MS girls were also touched by some of the struggles of these people and started a blanket drive in January. Completely of there own doing they collected blankets, bagged them and took them to the homeless at the station. These people are desperate as it has been so cold and were grateful, gracious, aggressive and hostile in getting their blankets. An experience the girls will not forget.
During Lunar New Year break, the same girls and I (along with Molly) spent the morning together cooking soup and then delivering it.

Molly and Tatiana were the stirring girls.

Gentry and Lani were the tomato girls

These girls fed about 60 people...
with a little effort and a lot of fun!
Some of the girls were sad as we had to turn people away when we ran out of soup.
It was cold and many people were hungry.
We just have to remember that we cannot save the world, but doing something is
better than nothing at all.
While we couldn't feed all of the people,
we did feed many.
Thank you girls!
